The Importance of Writing Our Thoughts Down by Sakshi S.

It is recommended to write down one’s feelings and thoughts as a way of letting things out. Oftentimes, we don’t have someone to directly talk to or we might not want to reveal our personal feelings to someone else. In these situations, it is important to still express our feelings and don’t let our emotions accumulate.

Writing is a great exercise for the mind, this could include writing on a specific topic, writing about our feelings, or writing about the day in general. Keeping a diary and writing every day’s accounts can be helpful but it is okay if someone doesn’t have the time to write every day. Writing once in a while can also help, as long as we feel we have let it all out.

Avoidance is not the best way to deal with any situation. Acceptance and expression of our feelings in a healthy way is what can help us the most. It definitely is a personal choice and its effects vary from person to person. Being busy and not giving our minds the time to think about negative emotions is what people do the most.

Again, its effects will vary from person to person. There are a number of different coping mechanisms that people use in their everyday lives like the use of humor, social support, trust in religion, self-distraction, etc. Some work well whereas others might not work well depending on the individual.
